Animal welfare assistance for bushfire affected communities

Hawkesbury community members who have been affected by the bushfire and need assistance with animal welfare issues can contact the Agriculture and Animal Services Hotline on 1800 814 647. This service is run by the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Local Land Services.

They can provide assistance with:

  • Emergency fodder
  • Emergency stock water
  • Animal assessment and veterinary assistance
  • Stock euthanasia and burial
  • Livestock feeding and management advice
  • Care of animals in evacuation centres.

The Hawkesbury Showground has been available for the past two weeks as an Animal Holding Facility during the bushfires. The Showground will be used this weekend for a local event and is not currently available as an Animal Holding Facility.

Local Land Services have a range of alterative locations for animals available if needed. Please contact the Agriculture and Animal Services Hotline for more information about alterative locations on 1800 814 647.
