Hawkesbury Historic Roads
The Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre is showcasing the amazing history of Bells Line of Road in a new publication called Hawkesbury Historic Roads.
This road journey, which takes you west from the Hawkesbury through the northern Blue Mountains has so much to offer - stunning gardens, orchards, cider tasting, wilderness vistas and rugged gorges.
A great deal is known about the Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson expedition route along the Great Western Highway, however Bells Line of Road is equally fascinating with its fair share of exploratory drama and construction challenges.
The Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre has been sending tourists up Bells Line of Road for years. It is scenic, relaxing, rural and at times wild - it’s hard to believe that you are this close to metropolitan Sydney.
This new publication is the first in a series of Hawkesbury historic roads and it is available free from the Visitor Information Centre at 328 Hawkesbury Valley Way, Richmond or Hawkesbury Regional Museum, 8 Baker Street, Windsor and online at www.discoverthehawkesbury.com.au
