UNCOVERED - The Archaeology of Thompson Square

5 March 2021 - present

Discovered from the Hawkesbury river and within Thompson Square and its surrounds during archaeological excavations between 2016-2020, are Aboriginal tools for hunting and fishing, to maritime objects, as well as every day, discarded items of colonial life. These artefacts recovered reveal more than 27,000 years of human history.

Also included in this new exhibition are intricate sections of the brick drainage system dating to 1814-1816 and a digital recreation of some of the earliest remains of a colonial carvel built timber vessel. Come and discover these stories and more in UNCOVERED.
