Learning

Step back in time with your students at Hawkesbury Regional Museum, where history comes to life. With both the Museum and the 200-year-old Howe House onsite, students can experience what daily life was like in colonial Windsor. They’ll explore the collection, engage with historical artefacts, and visit the newly opened Ngarra Ngurang / Place of Learning Aboriginal Garden, a space that acknowledges and celebrates Dharug Country, and promoted understanding of Dharug culture and local plant use.

Our education programs are linked to the NSW Curriculum and can be tailored to suit your students’ needs and learning outcomes. We offer programs for Preschool through to Stage 6, as well as Life Skills classes, and we are always happy to work with schools and home school groups to design a customised experience.

While visiting Windsor, you may also like to include a visual arts workshop or tour at the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, a short 10-minute walk through Windsor.

For more information on excursions to the museum, please see our 2026 program booklet.

Our Programs

Programs at the Museum are led by experienced educators and start from just $7 + GST per student per educator led program, while self-guided activities are free. We work to keep group sizes small for the best experience by offering a number of programs on rotation.

Homeschool Learning

We welcome homeschool groups of all ages to visit the museum as part of your learning journey. All school programs are available to homeschool groups and we are also able to tailor a program to your specific requirements or run one of our popular school holiday workshops exclusively for your group.
