Hawkesbury Australia Day Awards

About the Awards:

The Hawkesbury Australia Day Awards acknowledge outstanding citizens of the Hawkesbury. Several of the awards’ categories recognise long-term commitment and significant one-off contributions to the Hawkesbury.

Nominations:

Nominations are invited for individuals and community groups who address the selection criteria for one or more of the nine (9) award categories. Nomination forms should provide as much detail as possible to assist with the judging process.

All nominees must meet the following essential criteria to be considered:

  • A person or group must reside or have premises in the Hawkesbury or if not, the person or group must demonstrate they have significantly contributed to the Hawkesbury community.
  • A person or group have not received the award in the past five years.

Nominations open on Wednesday 11 June, 2025.
Nominations close on Sunday 17  September, 2025.

Unsuccessful nominations can be resubmitted in subsequent years.

Award Presentation:

All nominees, nominators and their guests will be invited to attend Council's Australia Day Award Ceremony, for the announcement of the winners. This is usually held on 26 January. NB: An invitation to the event does not necessarily mean you will receive an award.

Invitations will be issued by Council in early December with full details of the event.

  • Criteria: Awarded to a person who has contributed significantly to the Hawkesbury region, creating long-term   demonstable benefits for the Hawkesbury community as a whole over a number of years. Demonstrated selflessness, commitment and involvement in activities in the Hawkesbury. Contributions  made by the nominee would be on a voluntary basis and not part of a paid role. Nominees must be 26 years of age or over at 26 January the year the award will be presented.

  • Criteria: Awarded to a young person, 25 years of age and under, at 26 January the year the award will be presented, who has contributed significantly to the Hawkesbury region creating a short or long-term benefit for  the Hawkesbury community as a whole over a number of years. Demonstrated selflessness, commitment and involvement in activities in the Hawkesbury. Contributions made by the nominee would be on a voluntary basis and not part of a paid role.

  • Criteria: Awarded to an individual that has shown outstanding dedication and contribution to one or more specific areas of the Hawkesbury region through either voluntary services, expertise or community leadership that has led to the betterment of the quality of life of others. This service will be short-term in nature and will have occurred in the  preceding year  of the awards. This award may also take into account acts of compassion, generosity and bravery.

  • Criteria: Awarded to an individual or group for their outstanding contribution and dedication to protect and enhance Hawkesbury's natural environment.

  • Criteria: Awarded to a committed sportsperson, sporting team, coach, volunteer or official, whose actions inspire and encourage others whilst enriching the Hawkesbury community through sport, healthy living or physical activity. This category has no age restriction.

  • Criteria: Awarded to a person or a group who have made an influential or valuable contribution to the Hawkesbury region through any art form, including drama, visual art, music, verse, dance, cultural heritage, expression, literature, film and multimedia.

  • Criteria: Awarded to a voluntary service or community group for their outstanding contribution to the wellbeing of the Hawkesbury community. Demonstrated commitment and delivery of service to improve the lives and opportunities for community members.

  • Criteria: This award recognises an outsiding person who passed away at least five yeasrs ago. This posthumou award recognises a resident who has contributed significantly to the Hawkesbury community.
