Environmental Monitoring

Pollution Monitoring Data is collected from Council’s wastewater and waste management facilities as required under the Environment Protection Licences issued by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

Wastewater Facilities

Hawkesbury City Council holds two Environment Protection Licences for the operation of the wastewater facilities located at South Windsor and McGraths Hill.

As per the Protection of the Environment Legislation Amendment Act 2011, it is required to publish Pollution Monitoring Data collected from 1 March 2012.

Monthly reports and annual data reports will be published on the website regularly.

The pollution monitoring data is available for viewing below.

Pollution Incident Response Management Plan

Hawkesbury City Council has an obligation under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 and the Protection of the Environment Operations (General) Regulation 2009 to prepare, implement and publish the Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP) for Council’s waste sewerage and recycled water schemes. The plan details communicative actions and risk control measures to ensure the health, safety and welfare of persons or ecosystems are protected.

Environmental Policy

Hawkesbury City Council’s two discharge licences for the Mcgraths Hill and South Windsor Sewage Treatment Plants issued by the NSW EPA are now being issued on a Risk based management system. The Waste Management Branch of Infrastructure Services has developed an Environmental Management System Manual to cater for this change in licensing.

Therefore the Waste Management Branch is seeking AS/NZS ISO 14001:2015 accreditation for its Environmental Management System Manual. As part of this process and in accordance with the Standard the Environmental Policy statement must be made available to the public.
