Celebrate Christmas at Light Up Windsor

Crowds visiting stalls in Windsor Mall at Light Up WindsorCelebrate Christmas the Hawkesbury way at the Light Up Windsor Festival.

Windsor Mall and George Street will come to life on Wednesday, 22 December with festive cheer from 5pm to 9pm with the annual street fair. There will be roaming entertainment throughout the evening, including illuminated hula hoopers and stilt walking elves.

On the main stage there will be local musicians, dance school performances, and an elf drumming and hula stage show from 6.40pm.

Throughout the evening there will also be free face painting, snow flurries and a special ‘Find the Reindeer’ passport. Visit all the locations and deliver your passport to Council’s tent on the night to collect a special prize! Children can collect their passport from Monday, 29 November from the Visitor Information Centre at Clarendon, and collect their first ‘bonus’ stamp while they are there.

All passports that are completed at the street fair, including getting the bonus stamp, go into a draw to win a $500 Hawkesbury family pack, including:

  • Hillbilly Cider gift voucher

The Visitor Information Centre is open every day from 9am-4pm, including weekends! Passports can also be collected on the night from Council’s tent.

With more than 50 stalls offering Christmas decorations, homewares, pet gifts, handmade jewellery and more, plus many of the Windsor Mall shops open for trading, Light Up Windsor will be the perfect opportunity for a spot of last-minute Christmas shopping. Local cafes and restaurants will also be open, meaning you’ll also have plenty of options for a bite to eat.

Of course, there will be a very special visit during the evening from Santa and his special elf helper!

Historical building Loder House illuminated with festive images at Light Up WindsorThe festival this year will include an exciting light projection display on the Deerubbin Centre and the Old Hawkesbury Hospital, that will feature every night from 18 December through to Christmas Eve, 8pm to 10pm. Projections will be Christmas themed with a special historical element that will feature on the back of the old hospital.

Visitors to the Deerubbin Centre can also participate in a fun, interactive colour-by-numbers style street art. The Deerubbin Centre garden will be splashed in Christmas cheer with festive chalk art on the pavement. Come along and add your mark to this community art piece that will remain on display throughout the festive season.

The Hawkesbury Central Library and Hawkesbury Regional Gallery will be open until 8pm on Wednesday 22 December during the light projections. Come in and explore both facilities with the first 20 people to receive a special Christmas pack. Pop in and grab a last-minute gift at the gallery shop.

There will be additional pop-up entertainment for families who come out to enjoy the lights, including

  • Saturday 18 December - Roving Cheeky Elves and free face painting and snow flurries
  • Father and child in a snow flurry at Light Up WindsorWednesday 22 December - Snow flurries
  • Thursday 23 December - Free face painting
  • Friday 24 December - Free face painting and candy cane roving entertainment

Council received $60,500 from the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery Grant and $22,000 from Destination Sydney Surrounds North to create light projections on buildings in Windsor to contribute to the Light Up Windsor Festival.

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government. Austrade administers the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery grants program.

Light Up Windsor is presented in conjunction with the Windsor Business Group, with sponsorship from Windsor RSL.
