“Thank you everyone who came out to meet us at the Show to enjoy all it had to offer and share in the excitement of the weekend,” Mayor McMahon said.

“It was a fantastic Council tent once again, with so many activities and displays. Everyone was having fun from making badges to spinning the Savour the Flavour wheel for prizes, free cupcake and coffee vouchers and entering the guessing competition (how many apples in the basket) to win a Hawkesbury produce basket of goodies.

“We also had plenty of information about our recently upgraded parks, great new projects coming up, roads completed and underway, road safety initiatives and the chance to have your say about our Draft Operational Plan.

“The talking plant characters that we had walking around the tent to greet everyone were a huge success and I want to thank Mrs Bush and Mr Chop for keeping so many people entertained. They were great!Mr Chop and Mrs Bush at the Council TentPassport activity Hawkesbury Show 2023

“We’re so glad that visitors to our Show tent, both local and beyond the Hawkesbury, come back to see us each year to find out the good work we are doing, to do the fun Passport activity and to meet us,” she added.

“We are also proud to sponsor this major event in the Hawkesbury.”

Whether it was raining or not, everyone had a wonderful time learning about bugs and frogs and spiders with the interactive workshops with Tom from Hooked by Nature. Brave visitors had the chance to wear a live friendly huntsman spider, pat a cockroach or see a frog eat one! The educational workshops included learning how Habitat important is for our native fauna, how to build a Frog pond and a bug hotel.Hooked by Nature talks at the Show tent

Everyone loved hearing about our brand-new food event Savour the Flavour that is coming up in October at Richmond Park and other key events held by Council, as well as roads.

On top of that, the ever-popular Council Passport activity saw more than 1,500 passports given out, with children and their families going on a special mission to meet all the Emergency Services personnel – Richmond RAAF, NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Police Force,  Fire and Rescue, St John Ambulance and Peppercorn Services Inc. at their displays for the passport stamps and to win a prize at the Council tent.

Hawkesbury Community Bushcare also gave out 900 free plants as well as plenty of advice and information about growing native plants in the Hawkesbury. Our Visitor Information Centre staff told everyone about Bilpin’s Apple Pie Trail and volunteers talked about lots of great things happening at the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, Hawkesbury Regional Museum and Hawkesbury Library Service. The Community Services team was on hand talking about community recovery and Council’s Garbage Truck was a hit at the Show Parade.2023 Hawkesbury Show tent
