New BMX track officially opened at Woodbury Reserve
13 August 2024
The Hawkesbury’s newest BMX pump track and mountain bike trails at Woodbury Reserve, Glossodia are now open!
Excitement was the order of the day as Hawkesbury City Mayor Sarah McMahon cut the ribbon on the new BMX pump track on 9 August 2024.
The new BMX pump track is proudly funded by the NSW Government through a $455,000 Open Spaces Program: Places to Play grant which made the BMX pump track possible.
Minister Scully, who was unable to attend the event due to Parliamentary commitments said the new pump track would be a great community asset for Glossodia and the wider Hawkesbury region.
In a statement provided to Council, Minster Scully said, “The NSW Government has invested $455,000 for the Reserve’s upgrade through the Places to Play program to better enable local residents to connect with nature, and the adventurous outdoors.”
“The new mountain bike tracks and a BMX pump track will be a great addition for Glossodia for riders young and old and of all skill abilities.”
In October 2022, it was announced that the Woodbury Reserve Masterplan suite of works would be delivered thanks to $5.4 million in funding under the State Government's Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants funding program, complemented by $3 million from the Federal Government.
Woodbury Reserve is being fully redeveloped in line with the approved Masterplan, which was adopted following extensive community consultation. It will provide Glossodia and the wider Hawkesbury community with much-needed passive and active recreation facilities.
Work on the improvements across the rest of Woodbury Reserve are continuing, with the aim to maintain as much access as possible to the pump track and trails during those improvement works. The works will see the creation of a new playground, skate park, new multi-purpose courts, new amenities building, off leash dog park, shared walking paths, shelters, and barbeques. The car park and youth space near the amenities building is also being upgraded.
Weather permitting, Council anticipates the Woodbury Reserve redevelopment to be completed in Autumn 2026. Follow the project at www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au/woodbury-reserve-redevelopment This external link will open in a new window
