Upper Colo Reserve Terms and Conditions

Bookings are now being accepted for The Upper Colo reserve from 1 September 2023 onwards. By proceeding you understand and agree that:

  • You have read information about the campground and determined its suitability for you.
  • You agree to bring your own cleaning supplies, sanitation products and plenty of water as water supply cannot be guaranteed.

Campers are responsible in ensuring that they are familiar with the Conditions of Camping. These Conditions of Camping are in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the Upper Colo Reserve by all.

An official receipt of payment is recognised as acceptance by all campers, and their guests, of these conditions of entry and as an official permit to stay during its period of currency, unless it is made void sooner because of misconduct as described in the Conditions of Camping identified below. If cancelling within 7 days prior to arrival in the camping grounds, a cancellation fee of 100% will be charged.

Campers can log into their account and amend the dates on their booking once only, at no additional charge, provided that the amendment of the original booking is not made within 7 days of the booking. If campers wish to cancel their booking entirely outside of 7 days of camping, $50 will be forfeited from the total booking amount. If the booking fees are less than $50, 100% of the booking fee will be forfeited. Adverse weather is not a circumstance for either refund or credit. Campers who leave the camping area early under any circumstances or do not show up at all will not be entitled to a monetary refund.

  1. Camp Booking Confirmation
    1. Bookings must be done through Hawkesbury City Council's website, your email confirmation at time of payment will need to be kept as proof of booking. Please download your email confirmation prior to attending site so it can be viewed by a Council staff (mobile phone is limited in this area)
    2. The camping confirmation allows you to camp within the boundaries of the Reserve only. excluding the bush land areas. No camping is allowed in the BBQ shelter and water tank area.
    3. No letting or sub-letting of camp sites is permitted.
    4. Bookings are non-transferable. The site must be occupied by the person named on the original application.
    5. All fees are to be paid in advance, prior to camping via Bookable.
      • A booking does not create any right to its renewal in the following or any subsequent year.
      • On long weekends a minimum of two nights stay is required.
      • Bookings cannot be made more than 12 months in advance
  2. Check in / Check out Times
    • Check in time is from 2:00pm.
    • Check out time is by Midday.
  3. Mobile Phone Service

    Mobile phone service is limited in the area.

  4. Bicycles

    Persons, including children, riding bicycles within the camping reserve must always wear an approved helmet.

  5. Motorbike/Quad Bikes Are not permitted
  6. Fire Safety Requirements
    1. There are no firepits on site. Campers can bring portable firepits. Fires are strictly limited to contained fire pits.
    2. Naked flames are prohibited on Total Fire Ban days (this includes gas BBQ's). The Council electric BBQ can however be used for cooking during this time. To keep up to date please check NSW RFS - Fire Danger Ratings and Total Fire Bans - NSW Rural Fire Service
    3. Digging of holes for campfires is not permitted.
    4. It is recommended that: All camps have one (1) of the following:
      • a suitable and approved fire extinguisher; or
      • an approved fire blanket in any cooking area;
  7. Vegetation (Flora / Fauna)
    1. No person shall interfere in any way with the flora and fauna found on the Reserve.
    2. It is strictly prohibited to cut, saw, dig, move or displace any tree, bough, live or dead timber, wood or other material which may be in or around the reserve.
    3. No wires or ropes or similar shall be attached to any tree or vegetation within the reserve.
    4. Digging of trenches in or around campsites is strictly prohibited.
  8. Rubbish
    1. Waste bins are limited; campers are encouraged to take all rubbish with you when leaving.
    2. General waste only is to be placed in bins provided.
    3. Bins must not be moved from their position.
    4. Please do not leave any rubbish at the river or along its banks
  9. Amenities
    1. Showers are cold bore water showers - Use Showers sensibly with due regard to fellow campers.
    2. Cooking and dishwashing is not permitted in amenity areas.
    3. Children should be accompanied to the showers / toilets by an adult.
    4. Campers are to use the amenities, not the surrounding bushland.
  10. Vehicles, Boats, and Trailers - Parking
    1. Caravans are not permitted.
    2. Campervans & Camper Trailers are permitted
    3. The speed limit within the reserve is 10km/p/h. Unlicensed drivers are not permitted to drive in the reserve.
    4. Launching of Boats is prohibited from the Reserve. Canoes and non motorized boats are acceptable
    5. Roadways must be kept clear and safe at all times.
    6. Motorised scooters, quad bikes, trail bikes and other similar motorized vehicles are prohibited within the Reserve.
