Gallery exhibition openings are back!

13 April 2021

Hawkesbury Regional Gallery is excited to announce that their popular exhibition opening events are back, commencing with two extraordinary travelling shows: Promiscuous Provenance from Shoalhaven Regional Gallery and Safe Space, touring from Museum and Galleries Queensland.

Award winning artist, Anna Glynn is the creator of Promiscuous Provenance, a stunning exhibition which explores colonial artworks by reimagining antipodean landscapes. Lively and appealing it combines 30+ new watercolour and ink works, 3D printed sculptures, and installation pieces, to explore our relationship with the colonial past by re-imagining the early settlers’ depictions of the flora and fauna they encountered.

Safe Space, a major touring exhibition of contemporary sculpture, showcases the works of 12 acclaimed Australian artists: Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, Alex Seton, Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro, David Cross, Franz Ehmann, Karla Dickens, Keg de Souza, Michelle Nikou, Rosie Miller, Tim Sterling and Will French. It features diverse sculptural materials, techniques and scale, exploring different notions of space to spark the viewer’s curiosity.

All are welcome to come along to the exhibition opening, the first to be held in over a year, on Friday, 16 April 6pm to 8pm.

This much anticipated welcome back event will be opened by the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Patrick Connolly, with music by local artist Mady Disbray. Refreshments provided.

Entry is free but bookings via Eventbrite are essential here.

The Gallery is a COVIDsafe facility and our COVIDsafe plan and procedures will be in place.
