Living Stories: Western Sydney Writing competition

Hawkesbury Library Service has teamed up with WestWords as part of the WestLit Libraries and is bringing to all the budding writers among you the Living Stories Western Sydney Writing Prize 2021.

With an overall prize pool of over $10,000, this is a great opportunity to tell your Western Sydney story responding to the theme ARE WE HERE YET? Your poem, story or personal essay will be judged locally, with category winners going on to view for the overall prize. Categories are 10-12 years, 13-15 years, 16-18 years and adults (18+).

This writing competition is for residents of Western Sydney and closes Sunday 2 May at midnight.  Entries can only be submitted online at www.westwords.com.au

Living stories: The Workshops

With such a large-scale writing prize on offer why not attend a workshop to enhance your writing skills and confidence?  WestWords and WestLit Libraries, as part of the 2021 Living Stories Western Sydney Writing Prize, are offering free 90-minute creative writing workshops at Hawkesbury Central Library, 300 George Street Windsor.

Numbers for these free workshops are limited and priority will be given to participants from with the Hawkesbury region. The content is customised to the specific age groups so please choose a session time according to your age group:

13-15 years Wednesday, 21 April from 4pm to 5:30pm
16-18 years Thursday, 22 April from 4pm to 5:30pm.
