Hawkesbury Fest is back!
2 June 2021
Council’s annual Local Government Week event, Hawkesbury Fest, is going ahead this year and we couldn't be more excited! It will be held at Governor Phillip Park, Windsor on Sunday, 8 August from 10am to 3pm.
In the lead up to the event, Council is calling for Expressions of Interest* for local market stallholders. Local community services stallholders, food vendors, a local organisation to run a BBQ and local musicians. The Expression of Interest forms can be found on Council’s website at hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/.../hawkesbury-fest-2021
With this year’s Local Government Week theme being, ‘Locally led’, Council will showcase a range of services that are important to help build a stronger, more resilient community.
The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Patrick Conolly is encouraging local residents to save the date for the fun community event which will include a special celebration for the opening of Stage Two of the playground and an official thank you to the SES Units that assisted during the recent Hawkesbury flood.
“Following the huge success of the Hawkesbury Fest in 2018 and 2019, we will be showcasing the many ways that Hawkesbury City Council is engaging with our community and how we are leading the way in building a strong, resilient community,” Mayor Conolly said.
“Hawkesbury Fest returns as a free event with rides, craft activities, face painting, roving entertainment, workshops, food, giveaways, community groups and market stalls and more.
“We will also be celebrating the completion of Stage Two of the wonderful playground at Governor Phillip Park,” he said.
“The accessible playground has continued to be a popular playspace for locals and visitors and, with this new addition of $177,000 in new equipment that includes a double flying fox, a new climbing structure for older children, and a new picnic shelter with tables and chairs, families are sure to enjoy the new experience.
“Council staff have worked hard over the last couple of months to repair Governor Phillip Park and our other parks that were damaged during the floods.
“This will be an extra special event for all of us; we have been through so much as a community, the latest being the one in 50 years flood, and yes, we are so proud that, while we are still in recovery, we are stronger than ever through adversity.
“I warmly invite you to come along and celebrate with us.”
*Please note that market and community group stallholders are limited to a 3m x 3m space. Expressions of Interest will close on Friday, 18 June 2021.
