Travellers advised to take care on the flood damaged roads

30 March 2021

Local road are being opened as quickly as possible for the community, however, Council is asking the community to only take essential journeys to affected areas following the significant damage inflicted on the local roads following the March 2021 floods. Updates on local road closures are available right now on the Hawkesbury Disaster and Emergency Dashboard at https://disaster.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au

Trees, powerlines and other debris can restrict access to affected areas so roads may remain closed even after floodwater has gone.

If travel is essential and unavoidable, it is important to plan your route before you travel to avoid roads that may still be closed due to the flood damage and for safety. There may be more traffic than usual when roads are restricted or only partially open, so plan for extra time and please be considerate and patient for everyone concerned.

Local road closures

To plan your route on smaller local roads, first check the updates on local roads on Council's Hawkesbury Disaster and Emergency Dashboard https://disaster.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au as any road closures and ferry services are placed on the Dashboard. The Dashboard also contains current weather warnings, river heights and other flood information.

Major Road Closures

Major roads and highways in your local area and any associated closures are managed by Transport for NSW, so please see www.livetraffic.com.au for traffic and travel information for major roads.
