A new regional park in Pitt Town - Public Exhibition

25 May 2021

An exciting new regional park is planned for Pitt Town and Hawkesbury City Council is now inviting community members to view and comment on Council’s Draft Plan of Management and Landscape Masterplan for Fernadell Park, a nine hectare park at Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town. It is on public exhibition until Thursday, 8 July 2021.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Patrick Conolly will be at Pitt Town tomorrow morning from 10am, Saturday, 29 May, at the shopping centre, outside The Vintage Pantry, to talk with Pitt Town locals about the Fernadell Park Draft Plan of Management and Landscape Masterplan as well as the Bona Vista Park toilets under construction, the roadworks commencing soon and ranking the upcoming Pitt Town Priority Projects.

Council set aside $150,000 this financial year for improvements to local parks and paths in Pitt Town. Council has already committed $40,000 of this funding to supporting the building of public toilets at Bona Vista Park in partnership with the NSW Government.

Following consultation with Pitt Town residents in late 2020, a list of priority projects was drawn up for the remaining $110,000. The community is now being asked to vote on their preferred projects on yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au by Friday, 11 June 2021.

Based on previous community feedback, Council has created the Draft Masterplan for Fernadell Park, which will be developed in stages, Mayor Conolly explained.

“This Plan of Management and Landscape Masterplan demonstrates Council’s commitment to the community members of Pitt Town,” Mayor Conolly said.

“The park will become a hub of active community life, with recreation facilities for all ages and activities such as a multipurpose sports court, a large playground, outdoor gym equipment, a fenced off-leash dog area and public amenities.”

The park is also proposed to include:

  • two full-size football fields
  • full size cricket pitch
  • training pitch
  • community and event spaces
  • two netball courts
  • youth space
  • lake deck
  • around 140 off-street car parking spaces.

These plans will be guiding documents to ensure that any future development within the park will be consistent with the overall vision for the park. It is not anticipated that full development of the park will be completed in the short term. There will be four Stages to be developed over time as funding permits.
