Community updates for Upper Colo Bridge and Greens Road

31 May 2021

The flood destruction of Upper Colo Bridge and the flood damage to Greens Road, Lower Portland has affected our residents greatly and Hawkesbury City Council is committed to keeping residents updated on this important infrastructure. Council is aiming to do this by creating a specific email database to keep affected residents informed.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Patrick Conolly has spoken with residents about the extensive damage since the flood.

“We understand the significant impact the loss of Upper Colo Bridge is having on residents and we are committed to replacing the bridge,” Mayor Conolly said.

“It is important that the replacement bridge will be safe to use and that it is a long-term solution to crossing the Colo River.

“We are working hard to design and install this bridge as quickly and as efficiently as possible for our community,” he said.

“The closure of Greens Road and load limits is also having a significant impact on our residents and we are committed to repairing the road to a high standard to ensure it is safe to use for many years to come.

“We have also approached the State Government through our Hawkesbury State MP, Robyn Preston for assistance with both temporary and permanent solutions for the Upper Colo Bridge and Greens Road,” Mayor Conolly said.

“Unfortunately, these necessary processes all take time. We will provide affected residents in these areas with regular updates via email and on our website. In order to help us to do this, I encourage residents in these areas to visit Council’s website to sign up for our regular email updates.”
