Apply now for local heritage funding

17 September 2021

Do you own or manage a heritage listed property that needs some minor maintenance or conservation? If so, then you can apply for funding through Hawkesbury City Council’s Local Heritage Assistance Fund.

The 2021/2022 Hawkesbury Local Heritage Assistance Program is funded primarily by Hawkesbury City Council, and also Heritage NSW. Funding will be offered to successful applicants on a dollar for dollar basis ($1 of grant funding for each $1 of private funding). The maximum grant funding available for any one applicant/property is $2,000.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Patrick Conolly encourages owners and managers of local heritage properties to consider applying for the funding.

“The program aims to promote awareness and a positive attitude towards heritage, as well as to encourage and assist the conservation and restoration of the Hawkesbury’s significant heritage,” Mayor Conolly said.

“We are inviting owners and managers of heritage listed properties to apply for funding to undertake minor maintenance or conservation works to heritage listed properties within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area.

“Council’s Heritage Committee has continued to provide valuable advice to Council on ways to improve the Program which encouragingly has seen a significant increase in the number of applications in the last two years of the Program.

“I would encourage owners and managers of local heritage properties to consider applying for this beneficial funding program. Council’s website includes examples from previous programs, and highlights the types of works that can be readily undertaken,” he said.

Council recognises that effective maintenance of heritage buildings and properties is the key to ensuring longevity, and that well-maintained heritage buildings/properties retain their originality and heritage significance for longer periods.

The Application Form, Guidelines for Applicants, and examples of previous projects completed through this program are available on Council's website hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au

Applications must be made by Monday, 4 October 2021.
