Winter school holiday fun at the Library and Gallery

Recycled heroesMagic, movies and more! Hawkesbury Library Service, Hawkesbury Regional Gallery and Hawkesbury Regional Museum are presenting a range of fun programs to keep the kids entertained during the winter school holidays. All activities are for school aged children (children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult). COVID-Safe requirements will be in place and there will be limits on attendee numbers. Bookings essential and some events incur a small fee.

HAWKESBURY LIBRARY SERVICE

MAGIC. THE GATHERING

Tuesday, 5 July 10am to midday

Learn how to play this popular trading card game. Each player will have their own deck of cards to challenge their opponents.

MARVELOUS MOVIES

Wednesday, 6 July 2pm to 3:30pm

Watch Incredible Disney Superheroes save the world. Bring your own snacks and drinks. Check Eventbrite or call the library for the titles that will be screening. Seating will comply with any COVID-19 restrictions.

RECYCLED CREATONS: SUPERHORES

Friday, 8 July 2pm to 3:30pm

Create your own superhero outfit using loads of recycled material such as boxes, cardboard containers, lids, paper, and other stuff.

ANIMAL SUPERHEROES

Tuesday, 12 July 10:30am to 11:30am

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s super animals!

This workshop, presented by Children’s Discovery, will investigate the superpowers of animals. Through a series of interactive experiments discover what secret animal-power you possess.

COMIC: KEEPSAKE JOURNAL

Thursday, 14 July 2pm to 3:30pm

Using old comics and recycled paper turn an old book into a personal diary that can be filled with your thoughts, treasures, artwork, or other mementoes

CARVING & PRINTING WREN

Wednesday, 6 July 11am to midday

Learn to carve your own blue wren stamp. Once your design is finished you will create a stunning framed print of your wren.

PAINTING: BOTANICAL STUDY

Friday, 8 July, 11am to midday and Friday, 14 July 11am to midday

In this workshop you will be led by an artist to paint realistic botanical works of art.

CRAFTING: PAPER FLOWERS

Wednesday, 13 July 11am to midday

Create delicate water lilies using paper.

KIDS ACTIVITY TRAIL

Monday, 4 July to 8 July and 11 July to 15 July, 10am-midday

Come and explore the museum during the holidays using our fun and free kid’s trail. Collect the hidden puzzle pieces at each activity to unlock the hidden image.

ARCHAELOGICAL KIDS

Thursday, 7 July, 10:30am to midday and Thursday, 14 July, 10:30am to midday

In this workshop kids will learn about the past in a fun and engaging way. This workshop is being run twice these holidays.
