Have your say on flood issues

24 March 2022

Flood wide shotCouncil wants to hear directly from the Hawkesbury community, including flood affected residents, businesses, Chambers of Commerce, relevant industry bodies and owners or managers of infrastructure about their experiences associated with the recent March 2022 flood event.

To do this, Council has called for a meeting of its Disaster and Emergency Committee to be held at 6:30pm on Thursday, 31 March 2022 at Council Chambers, 366 George Street, Windsor. The committee meeting will be open to the public by registration. See details below on registration to attend and or speak at the meeting either in person or via audio-visual link. Registrations must be received at least three hours prior to the commencement of the meeting.

In addition to being able to attend the meeting, you can also provide Council with details of your feedback and experiences from this latest flood on the survey at www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au/ccn/survey_tools/dec-feedback

To participate in the meeting on 31 March 2022 via audio-visual link or in person, you must register at https://www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/your-council/committees-and-organisations/address-a-committee-meeting2/address-the-disaster-and-emergency-committee-meeting

Alternatively you can register by completing a hard copy of the Application Form and delivering it in person to Council's Administration Building at 366 George Street, Windsor NSW 2756 and or by posting it to the General Manager, Hawkesbury City Council, PO Box 146, Windsor NSW 2756. Note, postal deliveries may experience delays so the online option above is preferable. The hard copy application form is available by calling 4560 4444.

Members of the public may address Council Committees on any items in the business paper by providing details included in either the online or hard copy registration application form. Registrations (including nominations to address the meeting) must be received three hours prior to the commencement of the meeting.

Alternatively, registered speakers can send a written submission to Council which will be read during the meeting for up to five minutes. Written submissions must be sent to council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au three hours prior to the commencement of the meeting.

In addition to seeking input from the Hawkesbury community through the Disaster and Emergency Committee Meeting, Council is planning a series of further opportunities for input into experiences relating to flooding, including:

  • Pin Drop Flood Data Capture (the ability to provide flood observations and upload photos taken during the recent flood directly on a map) in conjunction with Infrastructure NSW (further details to be provided at a later date)
  • Further detailed survey of Macdonald and Colo River residents associated with the preparation of a Flood Study and Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan being undertaken by Council (further details to be provided at a later date).
