Remote Area Problem Waste Collection Events New Dates

New dates have been set for the Remote Area Problem Waste Collection Events at Bilpin, Colo and the Macdonald Valley. The events were originally planned for May and June but were postponed due to a recent fire at the NSW Environment Protection Authority’s contractor’s problem waste processing facility at St Marys. This incident affected problem waste collection for multiple councils.

Council can now confirm the new dates for these events are:

  • Bilpin – Saturday, 3 September 2022
  • The Macdonald Valley (St Albans) – Saturday, 10 September 2022
  • Colo Heights – Saturday, 17 September 2022.

Residents living in these areas can register online at hawklivingsustainably.eventbrite.com or email council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au or call Council’s Customer Service on 4560 4444.

Council is also pleased to inform our community that the Hawkesbury Community Recycling Centre at the Hawkesbury City Waste Management Facility is now able to accept paint drop-offs once again. Hawkesbury community members can drop off the following materials free of charge:

  • Paint
  • Smoke detectors
  • Gas bottles
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Car batteries
  • Household batteries
  • Fluorescent globes and tubes
  • TV and computer equipment
  • Paper and cardboard.

Only household quantities of materials will be accepted and must be transported in containers no larger than 20 litres.

All Hawkesbury residents can make use of the Hawkesbury Community Recycling Centre at the Hawkesbury City Waste Management Facility at 1 The Driftway, South Windsor, 8am to 4pm, 7 days a week.
