Mayoral Christmas Appeal 2022 - 1Hawkesbury City Council’s Mayoral Christmas Appeal is now open!

This year’s Mayoral Christmas Appeal will be held in partnership with Richmond Lions, the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Sarah McMahon has announced.

“It’s exciting that Christmas is coming! This is a time when we can bring joy to others, and with our local community having suffered so much during the multiple floods in the Hawkesbury, we have a lot of people who need our help,” Mayor McMahon said.

“This is the first year that Richmond Lions has been the nominated charity for the Mayoral Christmas Appeal. I encourage you to donate an unwrapped gift to those less fortunate,” she said.

“Richmond Lions has asked for gifts for men, women and children of all ages.

“I hope the Mayoral Christmas Appeal brings plenty of Christmas joy to our community through giving and receiving,” Mayor McMahon said.

Richmond Lions President Scott Hinks welcomed the club’s involvement in the 2022 Mayoral Appeal.

“Richmond Lions is pleased to continue to build its relationship with Council, and we are honoured to be chosen by Mayor McMahon to assist those less fortunate than ourselves,” Mr Hinks said.

Gifts must be unwrapped and can be dropped off up from now until 16 December 2022 at Council’s Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor, at Hawkesbury Central Library, 300 George Street, Windsor, Richmond Branch Library at 29 West Market Street.

From Monday, 28 November, people can also drop off unwrapped gifts at Richmond Marketplace outside Lowes. On Saturday 3 December there will be drop off point by the Christmas tree at Light Up Windsor. On Saturday, 10 December there will also be a donation box available at Richmond Lions Markets at Hawkesbury Showground.

Gift ideas may include board games, card games, outdoor games, sport equipment, tool kits or gift vouchers from local shops that offer items such as books, clothes, ice cream, stationery, or sporting goods.

Gifts can also be dropped off at the Christmas Tree in Windsor Mall during Council’s Light Up Windsor Street Fair on Saturday, 3 December.
