Waterwise GardensAre you looking to build your knowledge and skills in living more sustainably? Hawkesbury City Council has free workshops coming up for residents living in the Hawkesbury to learn about being waterwise, caring for our river and making decorations with recycled items.

Waterwise gardens – Free face-to-face workshop for Hawkesbury residents

Learn about old and new proven methods to conserve water: swales, ollas, mulch, composting pits, grey water filtration, rain gardens and aquaponics systems.

This free, face-to-face workshop for Hawkesbury residents is on Sunday, 20 November from 2pm to 4pm in the Tebbutt Room, Deerubbin Centre, 300 George Street, Windsor.

Under the Surface of the Dyarubbin River – Free face-to-face interactive exhibit

Discover what – or who lives in the river, the different microclimates that they live in, how you can measure water quality and what you can do to help keep the river healthy.Under the Surface of Dyarubbin image

It will be held on Saturday, 5 November 2022 from 10am to 1pm at Macquarie Park, 1 Wilberforce Road, Freemans Reach (the park near the Windsor Bridge) with 10-minute sessions every 20 minutes. This exhibit includes activities and information for all ages. Participants can choose to stay for as long or as little as they like.

The holiday season is the most wasteful time of the year, but this year, “we’re dreaming of a sustainable Christmas!” 

Council is partnering with the Hawkesbury Remakery to deliver a fun, face-to-face Christmas decoration upcycling workshop on Saturday, 3 December 10:30am to midday in the Tebbutt Room, Deerubbin Centre, 300 George Street, Windsor.
