Apply now for Local Heritage Assistance Funding

24 August 2023

Bowman Cottage Richmond NSW - an example of local heritagePart of what makes the Hawkesbury so special is its heritage. To support the maintenance of our heritage assets into the future, the Hawkesbury Local Heritage Assistance Fund for 2023-2024 is now open for applications.

The Hawkesbury Community Strategic Plan 2022-2042 recognises the importance of the conservation and promotion of the Hawkesbury’s heritage and history for current and future generations.

To promote a positive attitude towards heritage and encourage the conservation and restoration of the Hawkesbury’s significant heritage, Hawkesbury City Council offers an annual Local Heritage Assistance Fund, assisted by Heritage NSW.

The Local Heritage Assistance Fund focuses on supporting minor maintenance/conservation works to heritage properties within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area.

Property owners of heritage properties within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area are encouraged to apply for funding assistance at www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-build/heritage/hawkesbury-local-heritage-assistance-fund which includes an application form and guidelines.

The funding available for any one applicant/property is set at $2,000.  Funding is offered on a dollar-for-dollar basis ($1 of grant funding for each $1 of private funding) to enable funded works to be undertaken. The funding focuses on minor maintenance and conservation works that would not warrant the lodgement of a development application to Council.

Applications close Friday, 8 September 2023.

For any enquiries in relation to the Hawkesbury Local Heritage Assistance Fund, please contact Council’s Senior Heritage Officer, Christopher Reeves on 4560 4543 or email council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au
