The awards recognise outstanding achievements in managing and protecting the environment, the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Sarah McMahon said.

“Congratulations to Council’s Environmental Sustainability team and all Council staff involved in this important project,” Mayor McMahon said.

“It is an incredible honour for Hawkesbury City Council to be recognised by a peak body as being a standard-bearer for local government efforts to promote sustainability and tackle challenging environmental conditions.”

The Environmental Sustainability Strategy was adopted earlier this year and serves as a framework to identify how Council will protect, maintain, and enhance environmental sustainability within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area while also preparing for the projected impacts of climate change.
