Cost of Living Workshops

Edible GardensAre you feeling the pinch of the cost-of-living squeeze? For advice and information to help you manage debt and housing issues, come along to the free workshops hosted by Hawkesbury Library Service during August. At a series of three workshops, you can learn how to manage the increased costs of living from impartial experts, as well as:

  • your rights as a tenant
  • how to manage financial debts
  • if you are doing it tough, how improve your wellbeing and save money with an edible garden.

It is a timely opportunity to participate positively with other members of the Hawkesbury community, in a friendly library setting. The workshops are especially useful to people who face additional barriers to accessing information such as language and cultural barriers.

The workshops will run as follows:

Tenants’ rights – Friday, 4 August 10am to 11am

What are your rights as a tenant? Can you do anything about rent increases or eviction notices? Western Sydney Tenants Service will answer these questions.

Debts and your rights – Wednesday, 16 August 2pm to 3pm

Do you need help navigating the legal system or concerned about debt? Western Sydney Community Legal Centre will answer these questions and provide legal advice.

Edible gardens – Saturday, 19 August 10am to 11am

Take your mind off your worries and relax while learning how to create your edible garden with Mick Connolly from Mick’s Garden Shed.
