Adopt don’t shop – 62 pets adopted last week

3 March 2023

roxyDo you look forward to the day when everyone can say their dog was a rescue dog or their cat was a rescue cat? Then choose a pet from the Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter rather than a pet shop.

Last week, 62 animals were adopted from the Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter: 40 cats and 22 dogs!

All dogs and cats available for adoption are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and lifetime registered before leaving the Shelter.

Hawkesbury City Council receives cats and dogs from the five local government areas of Cumberland, Penrith, Hornsby, Hills and Hawkesbury.

The Shelter also offers special ‘Pet of the Week’ at super discounted prices each week – see the current adoption photo gallery for details at www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/link/adopt

The Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter is located at 10 Mulgrave Road, Mulgrave and is open every day of the week.

Operational hours

Monday to Friday 9am to 12:30pm and 2pm to 4:30pm

Saturday 9:30am to 11:30am

Sunday 7am to 9:30am

Remember to always keep your pet’s microchip details up to date with your current contact details including email and to always have them wear a collar with a contact phone number on it so that our friendly Council staff can contact you before your pet even gets to the Shelter – saving you and your pet a lot of stress.
