Survey open for Hawkesbury Active Transport

16 March 2023

Active transport in the HawkesburyHawkesbury City Council is preparing a new Active Transport Plan to deliver better walking and cycling connectivity throughout the region of the Hawkesbury.

As part of the Plan, Council is conducting a survey to gather community opinions regarding the current state of walking and cycling in the Local Government Area and how it may be improved, the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Sarah McMahon said.

You can access the online survey and also use a Social Pinpoint mapping tool on Council’s Your Hawkesbury Your Say web page at www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au/hawkesbury-active-transport-action-plan The Social Pinpoint mapping tool allows you to engage interactively by dropping comments on a map specific to a place or route and leave comments with suggestions.

“Walking, cycling, and other mobility methods play a crucial role in promoting a healthy and sustainable community,” Mayor McMahon said.

“Your participation will be deeply appreciated as it will provide valuable insights on the current usage and barriers to walking and cycling, and the potential changes that can be made to improve the experience of these travel modes.”

“Community engagement is an essential factor in a project like this, as in order to develop an effective strategy which meets the needs of the community, we must first understand how residents value the current walking and cycling conditions as well as understand their requirements for walking, cycling and movement within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area.”

The survey will take approximately eight minutes to complete and your responses will remain confidential. Thank you for taking the time to participate in this survey.

The Active Transport Plan will provide mobility links throughout the City to connect our centres, parks and facilities and provides an opportunity to review and align priorities developed by the Hawkesbury Mobility Plan 2010 (Bike Plan and Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan) and set the direction for the next 10 years across the Local Government Area.

This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government.
