Outdoor dining and A frame signs policy reminder

Hawkesbury City Council is reminding business owners and managers that if they are planning to use public spaces and footpaths for trading products or food or A frame signage, then they are required by law to make an application to Council before using the footpath or area outside the business.

Council is committed to working with business owners and the community to enhance the economic viability of the Local Government Area by providing areas on the footpath for outdoor dining, trading spaces and A frame signage. However, this also needs to be balanced with the needs of the general public and emergency services for safe and accessible spaces. This applies to all of Council’s public areas in the Hawkesbury.

Business operators are required to complete the relevant application form which is easily available online at www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/your-council/all-forms and click on the Building tab.

Windsor Mall

Regarding Windsor Mall, Council’s Outdoor Dining and Footpath Trading Policy applies to the Hawkesbury Local Government Area outside of Windsor Mall. Council’s Windsor Mall Policy applies to Windsor Mall only and is available online at https://www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/your-council/policies-and-registers and click on Policies, then scroll down to Windsor Mall Policy.

These guidelines are provided to help business operators to understand the requirements of the Policies and obtain the appropriate approvals where applicable.

Other associated permits which may be required and are separate to the Footpath Trading Permit include:

• Permit holders are responsible for obtaining all necessary approvals (planning or food consents/permits), and

• Liquor licences (if applicable).
