Reach Beyond the Museum to listen on location!
6 March 2024
Celebrate the NSW Seniors Festival on 20 March with a free talk and light refreshments at Hawkesbury Regional Museum with curator, Rebecca Turnbull who will share fascinating insights into local history and the 11 Stories from the River Dyarubbin exhibition. Bookings essential.
If you like history and are curious about local stories, do not miss this curator-led talk at 10 am on Wednesday, 20 March. Rebecca will focus on the stories, objects, and artwork that shape the exhibition. This is the chance to reach beyond the Museum and participate in a journey along the river, guided by one of 11 recorded audio walks. You will also learn how to download this unique collection from the exhibition website to your own device.
11 Stories from the River Dyarubbin is a public work formed by over 80 contributions from the wider Hawkesbury area including Dharug educators, long-term residents, historians, scientists, descendants from early colonists, and school and university students. It is a collaboration between the Museum and local community members who are sharing their stories and music of the river.
Come along for the FREE talk - including a viewing of prize winning Bangadyi Nawi – Building a Canoe display, which was the Winner of the IMAGiNE prize in 2023.
Continue your experience beyond the Museum by heading out on a historic audio walk, easily accessible from the Museum. Three of the audio walks (Howe and Deerubbin Parks, Macquarie Park, and Governor Phillip Park) are nearby. The talk will be followed by light refreshments.
This event is FREE – please bring your own device (tablet/phone) if possible, to participate in the exhibition though the audio talks with free help available on downloading the stories. Headphones optional for the walk or listen as a group!
