Council announces successful Community Sponsorship grants

Community Sponsorship Program - landscapeHawkesbury City Council is pleased to announce the successful recipients of Round 2 of the Community Sponsorship Program 2023/2024. A diverse range of applications were received, with Council supporting a total of $23,409 across three categories. The three categories are: Resilient Hawkesbury, Participation, and Access to Community Facilities.

1. Resilient Hawkesbury

Council may provide funding to community programs that help to build a connected, healthy, inclusive, and resilient Hawkesbury. Maximum funding of $3000.

Nine recipients across the Hawkesbury will receive funding for several wonderful projects and events, including a Firies Family Fun Day out at Bilpin, Strings at St Albans, a Halloween event, an anniversary dinner on the Common at St Albans, exercise and art classes, new equipment for community organisations and a youth drama showcase.

2. Participation

Financial assistance may be provided to support the participation of residents who have been selected to represent the Hawkesbury in state, national, or international sporting competitions and cultural events. The level of contribution is $150 for individuals and $750 for a team of five or more.

The successful recipients for this category are representing the Hawkesbury in Netball and Soccer as well as a participant who will be walking the Kokoda Track in September.

3. Access to Community Facilities

Not for profit community groups located in the Hawkesbury or providing services to the Hawkesbury, can apply for financial assistance for a subsidy of 50% off the cost of hiring a Council or community facility up to a maximum contribution of $750.

There are five successful recipients in this category using different facilities throughout the Hawkesbury, including Hawkesbury Leisure and Learning Centre, Windsor Function Centre, and Colo Heights Horrie Eley Memorial Hall.

This funding helps Council to work in partnership with the Hawkesbury community to build a vibrant, connected, and liveable community.
