Have your say on river and flooding study

Council is inviting public feedback on its study into flooding within the Macdonald River, Colo River, Webbs Creek and Greens Creek catchments, and the ways to reduce the impacts from floods on properties and people.

The draft Macdonald River, Colo River, Webbs Creek and Greens Creek Flood Study and Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan has investigated the nature of flooding, the consequences of flooding on the community and ways to mitigate flood risks and impacts.

Both the draft Flood Study and the draft Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan were developed with part-funding from the NSW Governments’ Floodplain Management Program.

The measures recommended for inclusion in the draft Floodplain Risk Management Plan include:

Data Handover to NSW SES
Update of Emergency Response Documentation
Flood Warning System Scoping Study

Flood Evacuation
Campground Education Campaign
Data Collection Following Flood Events
Improve Flood Immunity of Crossings

The Flood Study and Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan are open for review and comment between Monday 31 March 2025 and Monday 26 May 2025.

The draft Flood Study, draft Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan and other supporting documentation can be viewed during the exhibition period on Council’s online community engagement site www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au, or between 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday at Council’s Administration Office, 366 George Street, Windsor.

Public Meeting

A public meeting is being held to present the draft Study and Plan, and answer the community’s questions.
