Liveability Projects

Windsor Liveability works commenced in June 2024 and will be completed in three stages to minimise disruption and impact on the community, with a projected completion date of late 2025, weather permitting.

Stage 1 of the project commenced on 24 June 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2025, weather permitting.

Stage 1A of the project commenced on 24 February 2025 and is anticipated to be completed in the second quarter of 2025, weather permitting.

Stage 2 commenced on 01 May 2025 and is anticipated to be completed by 30 June 2025, weather permitting.

Windsor Town Centre Revitalisation Stage 1 - Windsor Train Station (Railway Bridge) to Fitzgerald Street

Section 1 – Windsor Train Station to Hawkesbury Valley Way - COMPLETED

  • Starts from under the railway bridge
  • Tree planting only - Weeping Lily Pilly's and Brush Box tree species
  • Planting occurs on grass verges
  • Reinstatement of footpath

Section 2 – Hawkesbury Valley Way to Windsor Train Station - COMPLETED

  • Tree planting only
  • Planting occurs on grass verges
  • Reinstatement of footpath
  • Ends under the railway bridge

Section 3 – Hawkesbury Valley Way to Tebbutt Street - COMPLETED

  • Tree planting only - Brush Box and Crepe Myrtle tree species
  • Planting occurs on grass verges
  • Reinstatement of footpath

Section 4 – Christie Street to Hawkesbury Valley Way - COMPLETED

  • No works to be completed

Section 5 – Tebbutt Street to New Street - COMPLETED

  • Tree planting - Brush Box and Crepe Myrtle tree species
  • Planting occurs on grass verges and on the roadway
  • Footpaths to be paved in a herringbone pattern using chestnut coloured pavers

Section 6 – Suffolk Street to Christie Street - COMPLETED

  • Tree planting - Brush Box and Crepe Myrtle tree species
  • Planting occurs on the roadway
  • Footpaths to be paved in a herringbone pattern using chestnut coloured pavers

Section 7 – New Street to Fitzgerlad Street - IN PROGRESS

  • Tree planting - Brush Box and Crepe Myrtle tree species
  • Planting occurs on the roadway
  • Footpaths to be paved in a herringbone pattern using chestnut coloured pavers
  • Improved outdoor dining area with planter boxes and shrub planting

Section 8 – Fitzgerlad Street to Suffolk Street - COMPLETED

  • Tree planting - Brush Box and Crepe Myrtle tree species
  • Planting occurs on the roadway
  • Footpaths to be paved in a herringbone pattern using chestnut coloured pavers

Section 9 – Wombat Crossing in front of Shopping Centre - COMPLETED

  • Safety upgrades

Section 10 – Wombat Crossing in front of Windsor Public School - COMPLETED

Windsor Town Centre Revitalisation Stage 1A - Baker Street to Bridge Street

The upgrade to stage 1A commenced on Monday, 24 February 2025 and are anticipated to be completed by the second quarter of 2025, weather permitting.

Works include

  • Removal of old paving
  • Footpaths to be paved in a herringbone pattern using a chestnut coloured paver
  • Upgrade to the outdoor dining area
  • Safety upgrades to the pedestrian crossing on Baker Street
  • Tree planting in pots on the paved seating area opposite Thompson Square

Windsor Town Centre Revitalisation Stage 2 - Windsor Mall

The upgrade to stage 2 commenced on Thursday, 01 May 2025 and is anticipated to be completed by 30 June 2025, weather permitting.

Works include

  • Removal of old paving
  • Removal of existing trees
  • Retention of the clock, gas lamps, water wheel, post boxes, cast iron bench seats and where possible the sandstone pavers
  • Mall to be repaved in a herringbone pattern using a chestnut coloured paver, consistent with stages 1 and 1a
  • Safety upgrade to the Kable Street pedestrian crossing
  • Creation of new garden beds
  • New tree planting, including Cimmaron Ash,  Eumundi Quandong and Crepe Myrtle Trees
  • Inclusion of the engraved name pavers throughout the mall
  • New seating areas
